Subject: Dragons in the sky
In China, flying dragons were seen as good luck. If a sylph is over China or Japan, it is more likely to take the shape of a dragon. In a lot of ancient art, the dragons are long and sinewy, similar to the shapes seen in cloud formations.
In the west, we depict dragons as evil and very, very reptilian. Most of the Hollywood dragons are closer to carnivorous dinosaurs than intradimensional rain-bringers.
In American Indian lore such as the Thunderbird, Sylphs take on a bird like shape. Native depictions of them are long and sinewy, similar to the Chinese dragon.
