I bought some strawberries recently from a farm stand I chanced
upon. They were small, red, inside and out and just delicious! Contrast
that with the too -large, white- inside supermarket objects that pose as
strawberries. I told a friend who in turn went there, bought some, and agreed.
In Seattle, we are fortunate to have many farmer's markets, as well as a
good food "co-op" as an alternative to supermarkets. So the first
step is to patronize farmers in
your region. The goal is health, autonomy and community.
We need to eat the right foods to have the strength to resist;
we need to be independent from corporations to provide our food; we need
to establish community to unite to resist. The next step is to organize
food potlucks to gather people together to form community. I have two plum
trees in my backyard, and I give bags of plums to my friends and neighbors
every year. Once community has been established, you can carefully go on
to become more political.
