SB 2100, the much proclaimed "alternative health bill" in California, is worse than dead... The bill, carried by Democratic Senator John Vasconcellos, and signed into law, is intended to "officially study" alternative medicine in a professional setting. It is now in the hands of the "Alternative Medicine Committee" of the Medical Board of California. But, the whole intent of the bill has been subverted by the committee appointment manipulations of Ira Lubell MD, the current president of the board. Lubell, a hang-over from the old board, has solid connections to the "Quackbusters.", a front organization for organized medicine dedicated to debunking and belittling virtually every alternative health therapy and product in the book. Lubell and Wallace Sampson, a well-known California self-appointed "Quackbuster", are business associates. Lubell has, on several occasions, demonstrated his hostility towards alternative medicine. The anti-consumer "Quackbuster conspiracy" was exposed in the authoritative book "Racketeering in Medicine," written by James Carter MD, D.Ph, published by Hampton Roads Publishing. Lubell has created a committee made up of the worst possible decision
makers - representatives of the ABSOLUTE ENEMIES of alternative medicine.
There is NO ONE on the committee with
Alternative Medicine represents over 70% of the California health care dollar. The "Quackbusters" are desperate to turn back the tide in California - for California can lead the nation in trends.. Because of Lubell's actions, I believe the pharmaceutical- medical complex
has taken over this "study," (and I PREDICT) to now use it to attempt to
criminalize "alternative health" in
Why do I think so? Because listed below are the descriptions of the background and credentials, from the Medical Board's own web site, of Lubell's appointed committee members who will decide the fate of alternative medicine for all Californians. Ask yourself: Should THESE individuals be in a position to decide the merits of alternative medicine in California??? Gary Gitnick, M.D.

Some Suggestions on How to "Fix" this Little Problem
SITUATION - "The "Stacked Deck" Alternative Medicine committee officially meets Thursday, November 2, 2000 between 3:00PM and 4:00PM at the Marriott Suites Hotel, Room Ovation B, 701 "A" Street, San Diego, CA 92101. Public Comment will be allowed at the end of the meeting. California Law REQUIRES that your voice be heard. SOLUTION (1):
SOLUTION (2):
SOLUTION (3):
Approach the medical board team taping the meeting, and get their identification. Denial of the public right to be heard - is exactly what we'd like to catch them at... Please report any of these actions back to me, by e-mail, as soon as possible. SOLUTION (4):
(a) send a letter (you can do this right now) via e-mail to the Medical
Board (webmaster@medbd.ca.gov)
and
Why are we offering the above "Solutions?" (1) To set up the paper trail to challenge any adverse (to alternative
medicine) decisions this "stacked deck" committee may recommend, in court.
(2) To set up a "public outcry" against the medical board's abuse of power.
(3) To gather evidence that allopathic medical doctors ( MDs), abuse the
authority "we the people" give them to self-regulate - so that we can legislate
a "Citizen's Board" to regulate MDs. (4) To take back control of health
issues from the special interests.
