Dear American Would-Be Journalists,

There's an expression I believe was popularized by Sinatra's Rat Pack, that goes: "Who ever dies with the most toys, wins." How very Rat Packy, right? Of course, those people were what you might call a tad 'rough.' Most of us know that life is not about living hard and dying with more toys than the next person. Regardless of what you think, the purpose of life might be, in fact, just about everyone will at least pay lip service to the notion that what we hope to do is leave this old world a little bit better place than we found it. It is the one true legacy we plan to offer the generation following us. Your children, grandchildren...you try to make this world a better place for their sake.

In addition, one of the most important things in life, to my way of thinking, is dying without a heart full of regret. Imagine lying on your deathbed, thinking: "Oh if only I had . . . " Let's fill in the blank here for those in the newspaper business. "If only I had fulfilled my promise to report the truth."

Now, just for fun, let's try a few HAD NOTS. "If only I had not fed the public a diet of government inspired lies! If only I had not super-imposed Kobe Bryant and Michael Jackson over the truth of what was really transpiring! We had lost our country to the 'elite' controlled Bush cabal and I knew it and did nothing! If only I had it to do over . . . oooooooo!"

Oh. but here I am, your Muse, gently shaking you out of your slumber. "It's okay, you can wake up now. You weren't dying after all. I sent you the dream, so you'd have that second chance, and here it is. You can write about the horror your government has created with depleted uranium in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq. Do it now, write about the deformed babies being born, the contamination as though there had been nuclear war! About our sending our troops into a nuclear hell where many will sicken and a lot will die from radiation poisoning.

"Write about how if it isn't stopped by the American people, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia are undoubtedly next.

"Write about Zionism. Expose it for the evil it is. My grandmother had a Jewish name; I'll back you - just do it!

"Write about September 11, and how we were handed a second rate movie script regarding what happened on that day instead of the truth. You want the Kean investigation to be honest? You can make it happen, you know you can.

"Write about the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee (www.GATA.org), give it all the publicity you can---these men are heroes! The price of gold has been artificially held back for decades! Visit their site; find out precisely why and then expose it.

"You are aware of all that needs to come to light, A through Z. The U.S.A. is on borrowed time; it's being destroyed. Congress is corrupt, the majority of the Supreme Court justices (you know the ones: those who voted to APPOINT the president) are corrupt, the executive branch is laughably corrupt, or it woud be laughable were it not so deadly, and YOU can make a difference. Ignite the souls of your readerhip! Come on, before it's too late.

"Your children will be so proud of you.

"And so will your Muse."

One day, you know, you really will be taking that last breath here on earth.

What will you be thinking?

"I tried." ?

or, "My God, what have I done?" ?
