While looking very close, the pilot is not actually flying that close to the back of
the cargo plane. How do I know? The first shot is taken closer to the cargo door
with a wider angle lense. Then in following shots, the photographer steps backwards
(towards the nose of the cargo plane) all the while taking each shot with a longer
lens--or more telephoto. How do I know this? In the last shot, the elements of the
image are compressed--the nose cone looks very 'flat' and not very elongated. The
photographer is also framing a smaller area between the legs of the two
videographers! You can also see in the last shot a tie-down ring at the edge of the
cargo door which was not visible in the first shot, indicating now that the
photographer is also shooting from a higher angle down to where the plane is, which
is slightly below the cargo plane. While it is a good optical illusion, many people
don't notice these aspects.
