Memo to the United Corporations of America
By Cassandra Camus <planetary@wildmail.com>
March 18, 2003
The world witnesses your calculated destruction as it continues
to foot your bill on this torn and bleeding planet. You have ravaged our
world for a century now, and crushed out the essence and blood of our children
to keep your machines running. It is we who fill your tanks and brew your
coffee. You who manage our futures as if appointed by some god, who keep
the markets expanding, who harvest the billions and trillions from us.
We hereby serve notice that launching screaming jets and computerized
missiles across oceans to annihiliate other human beings, manufacturing
gigantic "Mother Bombs" to incinerate entire villages, or using
entire countries as test populations for billion-dollar weapon systems will
no longer be consented to, paid for, paid allegiance to, or considered ethically
acceptable. Your high-tech annihilation has grown so vast and monstrous,
now including directed-energy weapons to disrupt the very DNA and minds
of any who oppose you, must now be considered CRIMINAL by all standards
of international and humanitarian agreements, including the Constitution
of the U.S., which you corporations appear to be using to light your cigars.
In other words, corporate masters, we the people, in order
to secure a more just and morally correct society for our children, do pledge
to resist your global war, until you take your raving lunatics and their
evil henchmen out of the White House, your dogs of war wagging in our face!
We demand a free and open forum, a liberation of the American media, to
examine the criminal activities surrounding the 9-11 and anthrax attacks,
to disclose the excessive economic interest the Bush and Cheney families
are reaping from their "perpetual war" agenda, and to tell the
truth about the spread of genetically-modified diseases from American labs.
Your Mussolini style of fascism appears invincible in your
own media reflection, but believe us, out here in the REAL WORLD, we know
you are mobilizing because you fat-cats are scared, isolated, and surrounded.
Even your own workers and consumers have lost faith in your oily excess.
This is why you will be using Iraq as the next testing ground for your new
model weapons worth their weight in gold, and why hundreds of thousands
more children must become maimed and orphaned. The world now sees that you
don't CARE that innocent people are killed and maimed, as long as you stay
in control.
Your hypocrisy is the defining madness of fascism: while claiming
to protect and defend long polished ideals, you have become that which you
most hate-- monstrous and menacing, murderous and mad! If the people of
Earth have learned one great lesson from the last century, it is that war
is madness-- especially industrial war which lays waste to entire nations,
which you find so favorable. Acres of napalm exploding at once, entire fields
filled with scorched and dead bodies, vast shorelines coated in black goo
and blood. It's all another day of business for you.
No longer acceptable. This is evil behavior, carried out by
unhealthy and dangerous minds. Is there anyone in America who can claim
that Satan would not be delighted by the turn of events toward carnage and
incineration, initiated by your bully-boys in the White House? Let's be
honest... no one else is responsible for launching 3000 cruise missiles,
each costing over half a million dollars! It wasn't Saddam who forced this
invasion, and it won't be Saddam who does most of the suffering. It will
be mostly Iraqi children, Iraqi soldiers, and your own troops, who will
bear the scars for the rest of their lives.
You have miscalculated how great the resistance to your military
dictatorship will grow, and how strong the cultural forces are which allow
you to exist. Listen carefully now to the voice of your children: NO MORE
WAR! NO MORE ANNIHILATION IN OUR NAME! Stop the hate and the killing, stop
the madmen who are inciting this violence! Shut it down!
We have serious issues to attend to on this battered planet,
in order to survive as a species. Do not allow war to be used as a solution
any further! We must evolve, or we will surely find ourselves living in
Hell shortly! Is that what you really want?

What About the Children of Iraq?
From a Speech by 13-year-old Charlotte Aldebron in Maine
When people think about bombing Iraq, they see a picture in
their heads of Saddam Hussein in a military uniform, or maybe soldiers with
big black mustaches carrying guns, or the mosaic of George Bush Senior on
the lobby floor of the Al-Rashid Hotel with the word "criminal."
But guess what? More than half of Iraq's 24 million people are children
under the age of 15. That's 12 million kids. Kids like me. Well, I'm almost
13, so some are a little older, and some a lot younger, some boys instead
of girls, some with brown hair, not red. But kids who are pretty much like
me just the same. So take a look at me -- a good long look. Because I am
what you should see in your head when you think about bombing Iraq. I am
what you are going to destroy.
If I am lucky, I will be killed instantly, like the three
hundred children murdered by your "smart" bombs in a Baghdad bomb
shelter on February 16, 1991. The blast caused a fire so intense that it
flash-burned outlines of those children and their mothers on the walls;
you can still peel strips of blackened skin -- souvenirs of your victory
-- from the stones.
But maybe I won't be lucky and I'll die slowly, like 14-year-old
Ali Faisal, who right now is in the "death ward" of the Baghdad
children's hospital. He has malignant lymphoma -- cancer -- caused by the
depleted uranium in your Gulf War missiles. Or maybe I will die painfully
and needlessly like18-month-old Mustafa, whose vital organs are being devoured
by sand fly parasites. I know it's hard to believe, but Mustafa could be
totally cured with just $25 worth of medicine, but there is none of this
medicine because of your sanctions.
Or maybe I won't die at all but will live for years with the
psychological damage that you can't see from the outside, like Salman Mohammed,
who even now can't forget the terror he lived through with his little sisters
when you bombed Iraq in 1991. Salman's father made the whole family sleep
in the same room so that they would all survive together, or die together.
He still has nightmares about the air raid sirens.
Or maybe I will be orphaned like Ali, who was three when you
killed his father in the Gulf War. Ali scraped at the dirt covering his
father's grave every day for three years calling out to him, "It's
all right Daddy, you can come out now, the men who put you here have gone
away." Well, Ali, you're wrong. It looks like those men are coming
back.
Or I maybe I will make it in one piece, like Luay Majed, who
remembers that the Gulf War meant he didn't have to go to school and could
stay up as late as he wanted. But today, with no education, he tries to
live by selling newspapers on the street.
This is not an adventure movie or a fantasy or a video game.
This is reality for children in Iraq.
Imagine that these are your children -- or nieces or nephews
or neighbors. Imagine your son screaming from the agony of a severed limb,
but you can't do anything to ease the pain or comfort him. Imagine your
daughter crying out from under the rubble of a collapsed building, but you
can't get to her. Imagine your children wandering the streets, hungry and
alone, after having watched you die before their eyes.

Sheryl Crow's Search for The Truth
By Sheryl Crow
March 13th 2003
I realize there is an extensive debate as to the pertinence
of celebrity opinion on the war. It has never been my intention, as any
of you who know
me or who have followed me know, to assume my opinion to be more important
than others' opinions, as the media world would have you believe.
I consider myself a citizen of the world as well as a proud
American. I love my country and all it has to offer. I believe in the pathos
it was founded
on...the right to express what one feels without loss of freedom, the right
to worship, the right to vote, the right to bear arms in a respectful manner,
etc. I am not un-American in my stance but simply exercising my right to
free speech. Because I am in the public eye, I receive more attention than
perhaps the average antiwar activist. However, I have never claimed my opinion
to outweigh the opinions of others. It is my belief that the dialogue is
as
important as the side being defended.
It is conceivable that in the long view, the outcome, whatever
that may be, could heal a wound that has been festering between Muslims
and Christians for centuries, because history would lead us in that direction.
There will be a price to pay..environmentally and financially. The question
of recovery is one that no one can speculate.... and more than likely, the
bill we be paid by generations to come.
It is my concern and my hope that the citizens of this country
will think for themselves, educate themselves, find out all there is to
know about why we are considering attacking Saddam now without the support
of our allies. It is my belief that there is an abundance of information
that is public record that actually addresses these issues....the issues
of preemptive strikes, preventive strikes, our philosophy on creating and
ruling a world empire, our necessity to have a military unchallengable by
any other military, our plan to keep a military operation in Iraq to protect
our interests in Israel.
It is my desire that we be an awake nation that investigates
what it stands for and that as people, we define what we stand for. It is
my dream that the arrogance that represents us as a nation can be changed
in the eyes of the world and that we will rise up as a nation of peaceful
people who will work at finding other ways of eliminating enemies....perhaps
by consciously not creating enemies in the first place, after all, we have
distinct ties to Saddam in his becoming leader of Iraq.
There are many questions that beg to be asked. Some are being
asked rhetorically by many journalists, including a great writer at the
New York
Times by the name of Daniel Friedman. For example-if we are claiming that
we are going into Iraq to save it's people from such an oppressive regime
and such heinous human rights infractions, then why are we not addressing
these situations in other Middle Eastern countries that are our allies?
What is
the standard? Is there a way to justify the human loss that we can expect
from this war....our own as well as innocent Iraqis?
If this is a war not based on our own interests in oil, then
why is it that our government is offering tax cuts to businesses who purchase
SUVs as
company cars?
I would also encourage all of you to look up the PAX Americana.
This is the doctrine which has been adopted, in part, by our Security Council
and is
public record as the National Security Strategy, a document in which each
administration outlines its approach to defending the country. It clearly
states our stance on our position in the world. It was drawn up by Paul
Wolfowitz, under George Bush, Sr., who is now serving under George Bush,
Jr.
The doctrine was leaked in 1992 but was considered to be so ridiculous and
inscrutable by those who got wind of it that Pres Bush Sr. was forced to
publicly repudiate it. It has since been approved and adopted by the current
Bush administration, which is made up of many of the same names who served
under Bush, Sr. and who have been called "Iraq hawks."
The doctrine states that America will allow no military more
powerful than it's own.
It states that we reserve the right to not only strike preemptively
but preventively....in other words, we reserve the right to strike a country
to prevent it from
striking us first, even without the aid or support of our allies. This basically
means that the World Community we have worked so hard since World
War II to establish will no longer exist under any rules of fairness. Such
an approach renders international norms of self-defense--enshrined by Article
51 of the UN Charter--almost meaningless. The doctrine is based on the desire
of a few to establish America as the sole World Leader, the head of an
Empire, the Czar of the World, which is entitled to attack if anyone steps
out of line.
It is more important now than ever that we align ourselves
with truth. The truth is not always clear cut. You must find it yourself
and stand up for what you believe. It is my belief that what we are entering
into is bigger than our President and his staff and Saddam Hussein. It is
egotistical to think that anyone will be able to control the outcome. The
mistrust for America outside our country has been brewing for a long time.
And in the long view, as I have said, the strife that we may be entering
is an age old one, based on the disagreements of religious peoples and the
desire to control monetary interests.
It is very possible that out of this strife, generations from
now, that healing may begin between Christians and Muslims. It won't be
solely because of two leaders. Our attacking Iraq, in an attempt at making
America a safer place, has not been connected to 9-11 or to the Al Qaeda,
as some want to believe. However, many believe we will see more terrorism
than ever, under the guise of Jihad, if we attack the Muslim world.
Align yourselves with truth. Pray for our leaders. Pray for
our enemies and for our troops and their families. Pray for the generations
who come after us who will have to pay the bill for what we are about to
enter. And lastly, pray for our ailing planet. She will suffer like never
before if this disagreement turns nuclear.
I respect your opinion and as I've said, these are the opinions
of one person....famous or not. I am part of a growing dialogue including
peoples from all walks of life, not just celebrities. It's important to
be in the ongoing debate in search of truth.

An Atrocious Load of Fascist Lies!
From Youth International Party
CounterCultural Coalition 2003
Let's cut through all the propaganda and lies for a minute.
This so-called "war" upon a vulnerable and poverty-stricken desert
nation, carried out by advanced weapons targeted by satellites, is an ATROCITY!
It doesn't matter what rank or title a person may hold, even
Presidents lie. When leaders threaten the entire world community with weapons
of annihilation, and at the same time tell outright lies about WHY they
launch these weapons unprovoked upon people who have no protection from
the "rain of death," we call this a war crime! I ask you, where
is the justice here?
This is madness of the most atrocious order! The self-appointed
Dictator Bush proclaims his family business partners "evil" and
lays down a deadline, and the rest of the world must submit to another wave
of trillion dollar bombing! All the shiny white faces on TV are smiling
and calmly explaining why this is a good idea. America is dragging the rest
of humanity down into a bottomless pit, completely in denial and psychosis.
Where is the justice?
George Bush and Dick Cheney are the guilty ones here, their
corporations making billion dollar contracts, their hands on the nuclear
buttons and oil wells, their diseases spreading out of family laboratories,
their buddies and drug dealers waging terror upon the entire world. The
evidence is laid out all over the Internet for all to see! Who do the American
media think they are fooling, when a former Attorney General of the U.S.
files a legitimate impeachment injunction upon these criminals, and not
a word of it in any of the press? Is there any justice in America?
Lies are lies, my friends. Bush and Blair are outright lying
about the reasons for launching their invasion at this time. Anyone who
has been paying attention knows it is really about hiding corporate crimes
and getting control of oil fields. It doesn't matter how much the corporate
media push their "approval ratings"... crimes are crimes, and
history won't remember America's transient "approval ratings."
Hitler had huge "approval ratings!" Ask the survivors of the Holocaust
who they are most afraid of... the ones who order the incineration!
Notice has been given to those who cooperate and support these
neo-fascist invaders. This is an aggressive war crime, and the launching
of missiles upon vulnerable targets from thousands of miles away is a cowardly,
criminal ATROCITY! Not in our name, not in our children's name!
Shut it down, Kick the Liars out of Office! Demand Justice
for the People!

"We are Millions More Than Them"
Prosecuting George Bush for War Crimes
By Todd Prajnaseeker
It is possible to do try your political "leaders"
for Crimes Against Humanity under the ICC. I was just reading about this
yesterday. The information is available via Human Rights Watch or the ICC
sight. The ICC has been set up under certain rules, one of them being that
past crimes cannot be tried - crimes committed prior to 2002, July I believe.
***** Any crimes against humanity, war crimes, or crimes of
genocide committed after mid 2002 can be tried at the ICC, and ANYONE, regardless
of office or position, military or civilian, can be brought to trial. *****
This is now a serious consideration for any political representative
or business "leader" or military or intelligence personnel. They
should from now on be a little more wary of breaking international law,
or aiding and abetting or otherwise engaging as accomplices in acts which
are in truth, under international law or UN charters, considered crimes
against humanity.
This is a real issue of acountability which can be brought
to the attention of any politician, government or military leader who is
currently supporting or proposing to support an aciton which is in volation
of international law and UN charters.
According to International Law and UN Charters, the planned
war of invasion, "regime change", "pre-emptive war"
and attack on Iraq, is illegal, in violation of both Internaitonal Law and
UN Charters, and furthermore is grounds for trial for crimes against humanity.
For more information about this do a web search for the campaign
to impeach George W. Bush, launched by a University of Illinoise law professor.
The good professor has the details as to the US administration's violations
of international law and UN charters, and the groungs under international
law for trying George W. Bush for crimes against humanity.
The ICC should now be used as you describe - to create a little
more incentive for politicians to watch their step in regards to respect
for international law, the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and crimes against
humanity.
See also Noam Chomsky's, Rogue States, for an in-depth discussion
and analysis of the "leading" Western nations' systematic disrespect
for international law.

information.
