September 10, 2000
In my first article (http://educate-yourself.org/tg/nwogundersonsmear1may0.shtml) about the less-than-subtle covert campaign to publically discredit former FBI veteran, turned Secret Government muckraker, Ted Gunderson, I discussed the illogical and unconvincing conduct of Art Bell in quitting his popular late night radio talk show by blaming a 2 minute on-air radio exchange (in 1997) between Ted Gunderson and David Hinkson for "devastating" his life and the principle reason for his early retirement from radio.
Coinciding with his departure from radio, Bell launched a highly publicized defamation lawsuit against Gunderson and Hinkson in Nashville, Tennessee. A preliminary hearing in that lawsuit took place in Nashville on April 28, 2000 and was the subject of an eyewitness report posted at Sightings.com (http://www.sightings.com/general/witness.htm) by Katherine Sullivan, a woman described in the article heading as a "courtroom witness". In the opening paragraph of her report, Sullivan informs the reader that
" I need to clarify that I went to the hearing with an open mind. I have never listened to an Art Bell show, nor have I ever talked with or corresponded with the man. For all I knew, Gunderson's allegations could be based in fact. Keeping this mentality helped me to stay objective during the hearing."
When I first read her article at Sightings.com, I simply presumed that Sullivan was a Nashville local who was curious about all the shouting and wanted to check out the courtroom scene herself. At the time, I might have considered it slightly odd that she would have any interest in the case since she said up front that she's never listened to Art Bell, but maybe, I figured, she just read one of Keith Rowlands' (Bell's web master/press agent) 'updates' posted on the net and became intrigued about the story.
I was soon to learn, however, that Katherine Sullivan is anything but a casual 'courtroom witness' satisfying a curiosity about a case concerning a national radio celebrity. She is a woman with an extremely disturbing background which needs to be examined carefully in the context of this case. Sullivan's past history and possible motives for penning her witness 'report' will be discussed in a separate article in this series. Katherine's professed "mentality" to "stay objective" is about as far from the truth as you can possibly get.
On April 1, 2000, during the course of his radio show, Art Bell announced his decision to leave radio. He said that Gunderson and Hinkson had publically accused him of child molestation, the very crime that Art's son was obstensibly victimized by. Art said he couldn't take it anymore and was going to vigorously pursue a defamation lawsuit againt Gunderson and Hinkson and planned to retire to private life.
During the same month, April 2000, a series of E mails flew back and forth between four women: Virginia McCullough, Katherine Sullivan, Kathy Kasten, and Barbara Hartswell. The content of those E mails will be revealed in their entirety in another article in this series, but for now, let's examine the activity of Virginia McCullough and her web site, www.newsmakingnews.com .
Sullivan's article originated from a web site called "http://newsmakingnews.com" and was circulated to several bulletin boards on the Internet. The editor of this web site is apparently Virginia McCullough (email@example.com), although she doesn't tell you that on the home page. She heads her articles with the title of BayCities Observer, so I guess she lives in San Francisco. Another e mail address listed frequently at this site, but without a name attached, is "firstname.lastname@example.org". [Update 2001: After I posted Ted's Internet response to Barbara Hartwell's accusations against him in early 2001 (http://educate-yourself.org/tg/tgresponsetobarbarahartwell26mar01.shtml ), I discovered from the vitriole hurled back at Ted (and me) by the Screaming Banshees at newsmakingnews.com, that Kate Dixon was the owner of www.newsmakingnews. Kate's name, however, was not on the masthead or anywhere else on their web site-at the time. I looked hard to find out who the owner was and the only name readily seen was Virginia McCullough, so I naturally assumed she ran the site.]
At first reading, NewsMakingNews looks strong. You get the idea that Virginia's been doing hard- hitting investigative reporting for a long time and she has a lot of inside contacts and seemingly tons of incriminating documents about all sorts of nefarious government doings going back to the 80's. In her introduction to a number of different articles, Virginia often reminds the reader that she was a "friend and fellow investigative reporter" with Danny Casolaro, murdered reporter of Octopus fame (see the books of Jim Keith).
I guess if you can call Danny Casolaro your "friend and fellow investigative reporter", you must be a regular junk yard bulldog when it comes to digging up the 'real' story with your-life-on-the-line sort of integrity and credibility, right? Or perhaps that's the subliminal conclusion that the reader is expected to arrive at. In any event, Virginia wants to be sure that the reader knows that her life has been in peril from time to time because of the dedication and rigor of her 'investigations'.
The Ted Gunderson Data Dump (http://www.newsmakingnews.com/gunderson.htm)
One of Virginia's investigative 'targets' has been Ted Gunderson. Virginia is anxious to rip the cover off of Ted's phony and duplicitous 'front' as helpful Semaritan and knight-in-shining-armor rescurer of victims of mind control and satanic ritual abuse in this country. To accomplish her goal, she has created a new section to her web site in late April called "The Ted Gunderson Data Dump". It's simply incredible how the debut of Virginia's 'Gunderson Data Dump' site just happened to coincide perfectly with Bell's sudden and dramatic departure from late night radio and the opening round of his defamation lawsuit on April 28 in Nashville. A truly amazing 'coincidence'. No orchestrated elements here I'm sure.
McCullough practically trips over herself in her rush to expose Gunderson's 'double agent' status. She employs almost every dishonest yellow journalism tactic in existence in order to make Gunderson appear guilty without ever providing any real substantial or credible proof of her accusations. Her Cheapshot Arsenal includes:
McCullough initiates many paragraphs about Gunderson with leading rhetorical questions, followed by a question mark. Her accusations are conveniently (and safely) couched within the vehicle of a 'question'. A few examples starting with the top of her Gunderson Dump page :
1."WHO IS THIS TED GUNDERSON, WHO FRAMED, TRIED AND SENTENCED, ART BELL WITHOUT A TRIAL! ART BELL RETIRES! BUT BELL HAS SUED GUNDERSON?"
[It looks like Virginia was a little confused here as to where to place the question mark and the exclamation point in the above example, but she's preoccupied with the perils of investigative reportage. I'm sure you understand. Continuing...]
2. "WAS (IS) GUNDERSON COINTELPRO?"
3. "1979 - GUNDERSON RETIRED FROM THE FBI OR DID HE REALLY?"
4. "1980's? to the Present? - GUNDERSON AND MICHAEL RICONOSCITUO AND A MILIEU OF SPOOKS AND BLACK OPERATIONS."
5."1993 - WAS GUNDERSON ACTIVE IN SATANISM INVESTIGATIONS IN SONOMA
6. "WHO IS TED L. GUNDERSON? IS HE AN INFORMANT OR A U.S. INTELLIGENCE OPERATIVE?"
When not couching her allegations as rhetorical questions, Virgiania switches to the employment of descriptive adjectives or nouns associated with guilt to title her paragraphs:
1. " GUNDERSON'S SPOOK TIMELINE: "
[Not wishing to burden the reader with supportive facts, Virginia breezily establishes that Ted is henceforth to be considered a 'spook'.]
2. " TED L. GUNDERSON'S DOG TAGS "
[Ah yes..., the military connection and of course, the derogatory implication of the word "dog".]
3. " GUNDERSON AND MICHAEL RICONOSCITUO AND A MILIEU OF SPOOKS AND BLACK OPERATIONS. "
4. "TED GUNDERSON'S LONG-TIME RELATIONSHIP WITH MICHAEL RICONOSCIUTO. CLICK TO READY EXCERPT OF CHAPTER 9, THE LAST CIRCLE BY CHERIE SEYMOUR © 1997. "
5. "GUNDERSON DEFENDED RICONOSCIUTO WHEN HE WAS ARRESTED AND INDICATED HE AND RICONOSCIUTO HAD WORKED TO PREVENT TERRORISM AT THE LA OLYMPICS. "
6. " 1998 - GUNDERSON JOINS FORCES WITH RICONOSCIUTO TO DEVELOP THE PINEAPPLE BOMB THEORY OF THE CAUSE OF THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING. [But don't laugh, the 1984 Beirut bomb was similar?] "
[Again, some confusion in the above parentheses in deciding the appropriate usage of a question mark or an exclamation point, but hey..., fearless reporters are under a lot of stress.]
The Gunderson/Riconosciuto Guilt Association
McCullough devotes a lot of space at her web site trying to link the double-agent associative guilt of both Gunderson and Michael Riconosciuto as somehow being partners in crime. Read her headlines above and tell me she doesn't have an axe to grind. Again and again, she sets up the implied conclusion that both Gunderson and Riconosciuto are in collusion with each other. She leads the reader to the assumption that they are both guilty as hell-of something, and neither of them can be trusted. But guilty of what? She, like every other member of the Gunderson Character Assisination Team, can't supply any verifiable, credible evidence against Ted of any sort of wrongdoing. What they supply, however, and provide in great abundance, are distortions, lies, miss characterizations, and deceptive HOT AIR.
In Mike Riconosciuto's case, he's serving a 40 year term in Federal prison for supposedly running a methamphetamine lab. According to Virginia's innuendo, since he's been convicted and is serving time, he must be guilty, right? He's serving time in Federal prison! The government doesn't frame up people they want to take out of circulation and railroad them into prison. They wouldn't do something like that, would they?
I mean the government would never stoop so low as to arrange for a man, who was about to be the star witness against the U.S. Department of Justice in a civil case involving the theft (and profiteering by officials of the Justice Department) in the Promis software case, also known as the Inslaw Affair, to be falsely accused and eliminated as a witness against them, would they? You don't think for a minute that the Justice Department would arrange to have Riconosciuto's modest trailer/lab (Riconosciuto is a scientist by profession) raided by the FBI and in finding a couple of common solvents that could be used in the production of illegal drugs, then turn around and prosecute him on a contrived case of running a meth lab, would you? . The US Deptartment of Justice couldn't possibly be riddled with corrupt individuals who serve the special interests of hidden power groups who hold the US Constitution and the welfare of the American people in utter contempt, could they? Nah, not in America! (Well, on second thought, if you happen to be someone that Virginia is fond of, then you might be a victim of government railroading, as she wrote about one guy who was framed, according to her, in such a manner, but it's not possible in Riconosciuto's case, of course, because he's buddy-buddy, with Ted Gunderson- so he must be dirty.)
Another thing I learned from McCullough's and Dixon's acrid web retorts on the Gunderson/Hartwell response as well as from reading their Gunderson Data Dump garbage (a dump is where you find garbage isn't it?) is their unbridled willingness to attack Ted for anything, regardless of how unconnected or innocuous it may be. For example, McCullough's biography of Ted includes the following lines:
"Gunderson is 72 years old; he was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 7, 1928. His own resume states that he is unmarried and has four children. He has an extensive background in law enforcement and attended the FBI Training School from December 10, 1951 to March 2, 1952..."
Did you catch the middle line? "His own resume states that he is unmarried and has four children." What is McCullough trying to imply here? Is she trying to convey the idea of guilt, of lowly character perhaps, non-respectability and illegitimacy, but doing it in a way to avoid libel? Technically, the statement is true, but the way she phrases it makes the reader assume that Ted has four illegitimate children. She could have said that Ted was divorced with 4 children (all of them born to Ted's former wife), but instead she reaches deep into her Yellow Bag of Devious Insinuations to draw the reader closer to her desired goal of holding up Ted Gunderson as a contemptible person. She does this over and over again. Paragraph by paragraph, she allows no positive statement about Ted Gunderson to remain unchallenged or un tinged by her duplicitous insinuations. Is that what a "reporter" does or is that what a character assassin does?
Here is where McCullough really begins to get wacky. She wants it both ways. She wants to keep her anti-NWO, "investigative reporter" halo firmly in place while at the same time, she wants to attack Ted over a national case in which he played a pivotal role in exposing. For those who have taken the time to study the McMartin Preschool case, you know that the physical abuse and satanic rituals endured by those 450 odd preschoolers over a number of years did indeed occur, that the tunnels the kids swore were there-were indeed there, and that the prosecutors did their damndest to lose that case and to abort/prevent the admission of key evidence that would have led to a conviction of McMartin and Ray Buckey (and possibly to an investigation of the Illuminated elites who were their sponsors and were the abusers of those "supplied" children). That's not to mention the convenient "suicide" of a star police- investigator witness against McMartin and Buckey. The press did their best to ridicule the efforts of Gunderson and the parents when they were trying to uncover the tunnels and- when the tunnels were uncovered by a hired professional archaeological team-the press immediately blacked the story out.
As is always the case, the Illuminati got out their disinfo/debunking teams and went to town, especially on Gunderson because of his former FBI status. They shot down the parents and the children in the(ir) media with a professional hit team drawn together special for the occasion known as The False Memory Syndrome Foundation. They used an El Paso reporter/debunker by the name of Debbie Nathan to go after Ted in the Village Voice, the NY Times, and a number of other mainstream publications, as well as on TV. Nathan fronted herself as a "skeptic" of satanic ritual abuse. Fortunately, an author by the name of Alex Constantine who came out with a book called Psychic Dictatorship in the USA (1995) and articles on the internet, blew a very wide hole through Debbie Nathan and her "award winning" credibility. In the segment from the Gunderson Data Dump reprinted below, McCullough is obviously aware of Alex Constantine's expose of Debbie Nathan, yet she wants to use Nathan's already-proven lies to slam Ted anyway! Notice how McCullough reprints the web address for Nathan's slam piece, while telling the reader to "See critique of Nathan by Alex Constantine" -without actually providing a web address to view that critique (see 2 links above following Constantine's book) . Notice also that she includes Nathan's debunking remarks about the Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald case and how his story (guilt) was "detailed" in the Joe McGinniss book, Fatal Vision . Surely, our investigative bulldog must have known that Joe McGinniss and his two-timing-betrayal-of-Dr. MacDonald were thoroughly trounced in print (and in the courtroom by MacDonald's attorneys in his successful lawsuit against McGinniss) by Jerry Allen Potter and Fred Bost in their 1995 book, Fatal Justice (Norton & Co, NY, London), which demonstrated a far greater respect for the truth than McGinniss, Nathan, or McCullough seem capable of embracing. The following is reprinted directly from McCullough's garbage dump:
1990 - GUNDERSON WAS AN ACTIVIST IN THE McMARTIN PRESCHOOL CASE IN LOS ANGELES.
Following is an excerpt of an article by Debbie Nathan who is well known to believe in false memory syndrome and to debunk as incredible, claims by children that they are abused. (See critique of Nathan by Alex Constantine.) Nathan's article does, however, outline the activities of Gunderson in the McMartin case: Source: http://users.cybercity.dk/~bkb1827/McMartin4.htm "Evidence of a Hoax - McMartin Preschool Tunnel Claims by Debbie Nathan © 1990:
"In 1990, Jackie McCauley was living with Ted Gunderson. He is former head of the Los Angeles FBI office. After taking an early retirement in the late 1970s, Gunderson was hired by friends of Jeffrey MacDonald, the Green Beret convicted of brutally murdering his wife and small children. MacDonald's case is detailed in Joe McGiniss' book FATAL VISION. MacDonald always claimed that his family was murdered by a Charles Manson-like cult, and Gunderson located a female street person with a history of severe drug abuse who claimed she had been in the house with the cult when the family was murdered. From this work, Gunderson apparently adopted the idea that the country was overrun with murderous Satanic cults. He elaborated this idea when he was associated with Jackie McCauley and the rest of the McMartin parents.
In the early 1980s, as Gunderson publicized his theories about Satanic cults, he began making bizarre claims to the media. One was that Satanists and the FBI were out to harm him. He once told the LA Times that someone had thrown a crowbar at him as he drove on the freeway. Another time, he said, he was sunbathing in his yard and awoke to find a satanic poem left at his side.
In the late 1980s Gunderson became something of a regular on shows such as Geraldo. In May, 1989, after the Matamoros drug-cult killings, he appeared on Geraldo and claimed that Mason County, Washington was filled with satanist "killing fields" stocked with hundreds of dead bodies. The county went into a panic and parents took their children from school. Extensive investigation revealed no such fields.
McCauley and Gunderson organized the 1990 McMartin dig and hired LA archaeologist Gary Sickel...."
Debbie Nathan's outrageous slander (with the generous assistance of assassins like McCullough) against Ted is fairly summed up in the closing sentence of Alex Constantine's 1996 article titled, Martin Preschool Revisited (http://educate-yourself.org/tg/mcmartinpreschoolrevisited1996.shtml):
"To come to the point: Nathan's propaganda, repeated in the New York Times and a host of other corporate publications, happened to conceal a classified mind control operation the CIA and Pentagon had undertaken thirty years before.... "
That's pretty much what Ted was saying all along.
to be continued...
