Ken,
The consumption of 59 hormones and steroids in dairy products is the cause
of the obesity epidemic. The Monsanto product Synthetic Bovine Growth Hormone
(rBGH) appears to cause Americans to develop more of a bovine physique.
Last year I wrote about the development of the dairy industry over a hundred
years ago as the reason for the increase in stature since the Taft administration.
As the average height has remained the same since 1961, milk has added as
much height as it can. The Frankenfood rBGH appears to have increased girth
immediately following its 1993 introduction.
Canada, Japan and Europe refused rBGH. In Canada our obesity rates are half
the American. We have basically the same lifestyle and fast-food diet habits.
The dairy interests of the USA are trying to force changes on Canadian laws
but fear of rBGH and other industrial dairy practices has kept these changes
from coming to the frozen north.
Dr. Phil has his campaign in motion to decrease the American waistline. His
verbal tantrums should be directed towards pizza, yogurt, ice cream and milk
but having supported Oprah through the Texas "anti-beef" lawsuit
he knows how powerful the beef and dairy lobbies are. His recommendations
are for proper diet and exercise without blaming dairy specifically.
The dairy industry has been trying to promote the view that dairy is a health-food
and many yogurt commercials show slim women jogging in parks.
The American armed services were the largest advocates of dairy over the last
hundred years. They wanted big boys to carry the big rifles. If George W.
Bush continues the unending war on terrorism the imposition of the SSS or
draft lottery may come. Inductees of the future army could top 300 pounds
and prove to be unable to do simple exercises. Obstacle courses would be impassable
to someone who is as wide as he or she is tall. The Pentagon would have to
produce robot soldiers in order to have any fighting "men" at all.
Maybe they will be modeled on the current Governor of California?
