"The Pope's Armada"
by Gordon Urquhart, Corgi Books 1995
I read this book in 1996 and Pope John Paul II's entourage
took on a whole new meaning. John Paul II had a ready-made audience which
would follow him to any part of the globe. If he was celebrating mass in
Mexico City, three quarters of a million young people would arrive in the
week leading up to the three of four day state visit. When he went to see
Castro in Havana the "Armada" was there again. When he was in
New York I remember the hot dog vendors complaining that they did not sell
anything to the missionary like crowds. Ditto Philadelphia.
I was in Edmonton Alberta when John Paul visited in the mid
1980s. Suddenly chartered planes and buses started arriving. The restaurant
and hotel owners were expecting huge business but it did not happen. Over
half a million young people were camping, tenting, bed rolled under polyethylene
sheets in the vast expanses of the Canadian Forces Base about fifteen minutes
north of town. That was also where the outdoor mass was held on Sunday.
I walked out to the campgrounds and found a well organized grid of streets
and lanes. There were colourful "totems" at the intersections
and group kitchens on every "block". The energy was intense. Electricity
was crackling in the air. There was group singing and prayer. These were
strong Catholics. This is the energy that kept John Paul alive for five
to ten years longer than the doctors and psychics predicted.
After the Sunday televised mass the crowds returned to wherever
they abided between papal events. The "city" of campers was gone.
There were subtle changes in the energy of the region but within a week
those vibrations were gone too.
The Pope's Armada is made up of members from three movements-Focolare,
Communion and Liberation and the Neocatechumenate.
Most readers of this posting will not have heard those names before now.
These groups were established in Italy and Spain after WWII. In 1995 there
were about 30 million members around the world. At the time church attendance
was dropping to 10% of the population of most European Catholic nations,
except Poland. Before 1960 ninety percent of Quebecquers went to mass. Today
less than ten percent see the insides of their churches save baptisms, weddings
and funerals. Carried, married and buried. This trend is worldwide. Catholicism
does not answer the needs of its people.
Focolare et al. teaches twenty-four hour per day, seven days
per week Catholicism. Members of the Pope's Armada consider ordinary Catholics
to be faithless pagans.
Although John Paul's sponsorship and advocating of this fundamentalist
behaviour has put him at odds with more traditional Catholics this infighting
was contained within the cloistered halls of the Vatican, few are aware
these conflicts. Some have called these followers, "The Pope's Moonies".
Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI was able to enforce the acceptance
of these fundamentalists. Why are bishops, cardinals and popes pushing this
radical agenda? Answer: The survival of the Catholic Church.
Gordon Urquhart loved the fellowship and spiritual purpose
shared in Focolare but his sexual orientation caused his dismissal from
the ranks of the "true believers". On an all too human level Catholicism
did not work for him. He felt betrayed by his friends. He knows there is
something good in Focolare but Focolare does not work for him. Ninety percent
of the Catholics are saying exactly the same thing in a myriad of ways.
If Madison Avenue did a basic market survey on Catholicism the Ad-men would
find the "market was not buying the product".
Right from the start of the Roman Catholic Church the "externalization"
of spiritual power into a physical edifice was problematic. Romans, later
Europeans, later the whole world were taught to direct prayer or spiritual
power up the "chain of command" of the physical power structure,
priests, bishops, arch-bishops, cardinals and popes. This physical was supposed
to be able to make the link to God through the pope. The spiritual truth
is that everyone has access to God through their own conscious awareness,
no priests, popes, saints or psychic guides are needed. I believe that the
Vatican knows that this error will cause their undoing.
The rise of Focolare, Communion and Liberation and the Neocatechumenate
is contemporary to the implementation of mind control protocols in many
nations around the world. It is also parallel to the funding of fundamentalism
in all religions especially American Protestantism and Saudi Islamism. At
the same time North Korea was becoming the most fundamentalist of all Communist
countries, Reverend Moon was calling himself the second coming of Christ
in South Korea. Mind control was on both sides of the 38th parallel. The
Vatican was seeing all these events and trying to re-establish their hegemony...
could mind control be used to buttress waning Catholicism? Enter: Focolare.
In simple terms a power group was established to replace
all the hundreds of millions of Catholics who were not practising their
faith of birth. A small group working with strong intent can replace that
which was lost. Walking through the camp of the Focolare during their brief
stay in Edmonton, I could feel the raw power of the young people present.
From Urquhart's book I read that they where directed by their
leaders to aim their heart love at Papa, John Paul II. How can you tell
that John Paul was not reptilian? He was love bombed by millions and did
not shape-shift. Again this is an externalization of spiritual energy into
a physical form, the pope, his office and the Catholic Church itself.
This is like jump starting a diesel truck from a small car.
It is possible to get the truck running for a while until the next boost
but it is a heavy drain on the car battery.
The followers of Focolare must feel that this sacrifice of
their spiritual power is worth the effort. If they should question anything
about the way things are within the church then they could withdraw their
intent. For most of Focolare, John Paul was their only pope. The energy
matrix is set up to match his energy. He was able to handle the load. Pope
Benedict XVI will certainly have some big shoes to fill. It is unlikely
he will be able to carry the energy of millions "love bombing"
him. It will be Ratzinger's heart that will betray him.
Imagine a big "Guns and Roses" concert and Pat
Boone as the emergency substitution.
As the frequency rises more and more people will know that
outer religious structures do not matter. All that truly matters is your
own connection to God. Many of the lessons of Focolare that worked and were
of value to Gordon Urquhart were about connectedness to spiritual power.
If the Vatican had instructed Focolare's leaders to expand the connection
instead of dumping energy on a dying pope and a dying church then Focolare
could be one of the most important groups ever.
