[Kara Kennedy, oldest daughter of Ted Kennedy and Eleanor Mondale, daughter of Walter Mondale, died within 24 hours of each other Sep. 16-17, 2011). They were both 51 years old.
Eleanor Mondale died from a recurrence of brain cancer, having been initially diagnosed in 2005, following seizures suffered while on a camping trip. She initially had chemotherapy and radiation, but had to undergo a brain operation in 2008 due to continued growth of her cancer. She was married three times and had a reputation for living on the “wild” side (her words) in earlier years.
Kara Kennedy was also diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002 and given a slim chance to survive, but she pulled through. The media said she died of a heart attack following a workout at a Washington DC workout center.
The bizarre parallels in the family background, age, deaths, medical and social histories of both women are intriguing (one wonders if there isn't’t a karmic dance working in the background?).
In reading obituaries on Kara Kennedy, the media’s description of the character and personality of Ted Kennedy Sr. is a far cry from the memoirs published by Brice Taylor in her 1999 book, Thanks for The Memories. Of all of the well known political figures who used and abused her while she was under mind control as an MK Ultra sex slave, Ted Kennedy was the most savage; having torturously abused Brice on numerous occasions with the greatest of cruelty and viciousness (not that Dick Cheney or Frank Sinatra were Love Puppies).
The children of Illuminated families rarely escape the sort of depraved ‘training’ that victims of mind control are forced to endure from earliest childhood (read Thanks for The Memories). And one wonders what role early stressful experiences, even suppressed ones, may play in the etiology of disease development once the vitality of youth has passed. Emotional distress, and particularly negative emotional stress (hate, envy, resentment, bitterness, etc), can play a tremendous role in setting the stage for cancer development. It’s sad, of course, when parents have to attend the funeral of their own children and I'm sure this is a tremendous heartbreak for both families. May the souls of both Eleanor and Kara rest in peace. Just for the record, I don't envy for a moment the lives of those born to the rich and famous, and especially those of Illuminated families. If you were raised by two loving parnets from a humble and completely mundane background, count your blessings. …Ken Adachi]

Minneapolis (AP) — Eleanor Mondale, the vivacious daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale who carved out her own reputation as an entertainment reporter, radio show host and gossip magnet, has died at her home in Minnesota. She was 51.
Family spokeswoman Lynda Pedersen said Mondale died Saturday. She had been diagnosed with brain cancer years earlier.
"Joan and I must report that our wonderful daughter, Eleanor Mondale Poling, after her long and gutsy battle against cancer, went up to heaven last night to be with her angel," the former vice president said in a statement emailed to friends. "Thank you for all your friendship, you will hear more about plans to celebrate her life soon."
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who worked for Walter Mondale for many years, said Eleanor Mondale lived a very public life.
"Being a child of a public figure there's privileges but there's also a lot of burdens," she said. "One of the things I always admired about Eleanor was she made her own independent path through life. Her dad was so proud of her and he would always tell me was how much he loved her spirit, her great spirit of independence."
In a statement, Gov. Mark Dayton remembered Mondale as a "beautiful, poised, multi-talented, and accomplished woman."
"She battled her cancer heroically and endured its agonies courageously. I extend my deepest condolences to her family, who loved her so dearly," Dayton said.
Mondale had been off the air at WCCO-AM in Minneapolis since March 19, 2009, when she announced that her brain cancer had returned a second time. She had surgery to remove the tumor Aug. 12, 2009, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and a posting on her CaringBridge website declared the surgery a success.
Mondale, the middle of three children born to Walter and Joan Mondale, stumped for her father in his failed campaign to unseat President Ronald Reagan in 1984. She also made calls in 2002 in her father's last campaign, when the former vice president took the ballot slot of Sen. Paul Wellstone, who died in a plane crash just days before the election.
A striking blonde known on the party circuit when she was younger, Eleanor Mondale also attracted gossip. Her dalliance with the late rock musician Warren Zevon was detailed in "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon," a posthumous biography published by Zevon's ex-wife in 2007.
In 1998, CBS News reported that Mondale was one of four women Monica Lewinsky expressed resentment toward in taped conversations because of attention President Bill Clinton paid to them. (Mondale issued a statement saying her relationship with the president and his wife, Hillary, was "purely a friendship.")
Mondale started as an aspiring actress, with bit parts in TV's "Three's Company" and "Dynasty." She got her start in broadcasting as an entertainment reporter at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis in 1989, but left after only eight months when a Twin Cities magazine was about to publish an article called, "Walter and Joan's Wild Child." The Star Tribune reported that Mondale denied she was forced out.
In the article in Mpls.-St. Paul magazine, Mondale was quoted as saying "I like to get wild. But it's not murder, and I don't do drugs."
After stints at Minneapolis radio station WLOL-FM, on cable television at E! Entertainment and ESPN and network TV on CBS' "This Morning," she returned to Minnesota in 2006 to co-host a weekday morning show on WCCO-AM with Susie Jones.
Jones said one of the most striking things about Mondale was her sense of humor and passion for life.
"She was a vegetarian her whole life — super-duper healthy," Jones said. "Which is just a shame. But in the end about a month ago, she really wanted fried chicken. ... It's really hard. I'm going to miss her."
Jones said Mondale knew for some time that she was facing death, but showed courage and grace.
In 2005, Mondale was diagnosed with brain cancer after she suffered two seizures during a camping trip. The tumor nearly disappeared after Mondale had chemotherapy and radiation, but her cancer returned in 2008. She underwent surgery that time and was able to return to WCCO but eventually had to take disability leave to treat the recurrence.
Mondale was married three times: to Chicago Bears offensive lineman Keith Van Horne, to fellow DJ Greg Thunder and to Twin Cities rock musician Chan Poling of The Suburbs. Mondale and Poling married in 2005, shortly after her cancer was diagnosed, and lived on a farm near Prior Lake in the southern Twin Cities.

The divorced mother of two was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002. It later went into remission, and she was believed to have been cancer-free at the time of her death.
"She's with dad," her brother, former Congressman Patrick Kennedy said in a statement.

Eleanor Mondale was a much more public personality. The daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale and his wife Joan, Eleanor was often called a "wild child" and became a magnet for gossip.
An actress turned TV and radio reporter, she had several high profile romances and three marriages. She was wed to rock musician Chan Poling at the time of her passing early Saturday.

Eleanor Mondale and Kara Kennedy, Both Daughters of Democratic Senators, Presidential Candidates, Both Dead at 51
I saw this earlier, "Eleanor Mondale, Daughter of Former Vice President, Dies at 51." I recall Eleanor back in the day. She was a striking blonde bombshell. And now here comes the news that Edward Kennedy's daughter Kara is also dead at the age of 51. See: "Kara Kennedy, daughter of Teddy, dies" (via Memeorandum):
BOSTON - Kara Kennedy Allen, the only daughter of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, has died.
A family friend confirmed to CBS Station WBZ that the 51-year-old Kennedy passed away, after reportedly suffering a heart attack Friday evening.
Walter Mondale was of course Jimmy Carter's vice-president. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1964 to 1976. He lost his presidential campaign against Ronald Reagan in 1984. Edward "Teddy" Kennedy, President John F. Kennedy's brother, served in the U.S. Senate from 1962 to 2009. He challenged Jimmy Carter for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1980.

Oldest child of late Sen. Ted Kennedy dies at 51
Kara Kennedy is 'with dad,' says brother, Patrick Kennedy, former congressman
Kara Kennedy, the oldest child of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, died suddenly Friday evening at a Washington-area health club.
Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy confirmed the death of his 51-year-old sister, adding "she's with dad."
Kara Kennedy had herself battled lung cancer: In 2003, doctors removed a malignant tumor. Patrick Kennedy said that his sister loved to exercise, but that he thinks her cancer treatment "took quite a toll on her and weakened her physically."
"Her heart gave out," he said.
Kara Kennedy was the oldest of three children. She and her brother Edward Kennedy Jr. helped run their father's U.S. Senate campaign in 1988. The National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome lists her as a national advisory board member on its website.
Edward Kennedy Jr. himself was a survivor after losing a leg to bone cancer as a child. And Patrick Kennedy had surgery in 1988 to remove a non-cancerous tumor that was pressing against his spine.
In 1990, Kara Kennedy married Michael Allen. The couple have two children: Max Greathouse Allen, 15, and daughter, Grace Kennedy Allen, 16.
'Beautiful baby'
Kara Kennedy was born in 1960 as her father campaigned for his brother, John F. Kennedy, during the presidential primaries.
The late senator wrote in his 2009 memoir, "True Compass," that "I had never seen a more beautiful baby, nor been happier in my life."
She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002 and was given a grim prognosis by doctors, her father wrote. She had an operation in 2003 that doctors said was successful, and Edward Kennedy accompanied his daughter to chemotherapy treatments.
In the book, Edward Kennedy recalled her operation, along with her aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
"Kara responded to my exhortations to have faith in herself," he wrote. "Today, nearly seven years later as I write this, Kara is a healthy, vibrant, active mother of two who is flourishing."
In 2009, shortly before his death, Edward Kennedy was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama. Kara Kennedy accepted the award on behalf of her father.
'Part of something larger'
Five months before her death, Kara Kennedy wrote of her father and the institute named in his honor in an article published in The Boston Globe Magazine. She described Christmas 1984, when her father insisted on spending the night helping relief workers feed hungry people in the Ethiopian desert. And of how each summer, Ted Kennedy loaded the family into a Winnebago for road trips to hike through historic battlefields and buildings.
She wrote of family trips in the summer when the late senator would lead his children on explorations of historic battlefields and buildings, trips she said taught her that one person can make a difference.
"What mattered to my father was not the scale of an accomplishment, but that we did our share to make the world better," she wrote. "That we learned we were part of something larger than ourselves."
Kara Kennedy, a graduate of Tufts University, also worked as a filmmaker and in television. She helped produce several videos for Very Special Arts, an organization founded by her aunt Jean Kennedy Smith. She also served as a board member for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute; director emerita and national trustee of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation; and as a national advisory board member for the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
The New York Times noted that many members of her generation of the Kennedy family have died relatively young: John F. Kennedy Jr., killed in a 1999 plane crash; Michael L. Kennedy, killed in a 1998 skiing accident; his brother David, who died of a drug overdose in 1984. The Times also noted that her father was the only one of four brothers to live to old age.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her mother, Joan Kennedy, and younger brothers, Edward Kennedy, Jr., and Patrick Kennedy and their families.
Kara Kennedy, Daughter Of Sen. Ted Kennedy, Has Died At Age 51

BOSTON (CBS/AP) – Kara Kennedy, the only daughter of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, has died.
The 51-year-old Kennedy passed away after suffering a heart attack Friday evening following her daily workout at a Washington-area health club.
Kennedy was a member of the Sport & Health fitness center, though spokeswoman Nancy Terry declined to release further details about the incident, citing member privacy.
Her ex-husband, Michael Allen, said she frequently visited the club and went swimming every day if she could. He said details about her death would be released by The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. He said funeral arrangements are being made.
“Insofar as I’m concerned her legacy is one of courage and grit and determination in the face of her own illness and in the face of many family tragedies and limitless, absolutely limitless, devotion to our children,” he said.
Her brother Patrick Kennedy told The Associated Press on Saturday that “she’s with dad.” Their father, Senator Ted. Kennedy died in 2009.
Kara was a lung cancer survivor and her cancer had been in remission since 2003.
Patrick Kennedy says he thinks his sister’s cancer treatment “took quite a toll on her and weakened her physically.” He says “her heart gave out.”
He also says his sister loved to exercise.

Kara was loved and cherished by the entire Kennedy family… We will all greatly miss Kara’s energy and commitment to the Institute and her generous spirit.”
In a statement, Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown offered his and his wife’s prayers and sympathies to the Kennedy family.
“Kara proudly carried on her family’s commitment to public service through her volunteer and charitable work, and was a devoted mother to her two children,” Brown’s statement read in part.
