Dear Ken,
I am sorry to bother you with such trivial issue, but I received a fishy e-mail
today from someone claiming she got my e-mail from educate-yourself.
I don't really mind but i'm wondering if somone started some phishing or spamming
operation towards people who's e-mail have been posted on educate-yourself .I have recopied here the e-mail I have received, maybe you can post it and so if
others can see it and they receive the same e-mail they'll know for sure its some
kind of bullshit intended to extract personal information from them.

So just to be clear i'm in no way blaming you for having posted my e-mail adress, i
just wanted to let you know about this and let you be the judge if there's anything
to be done about it or not. it might just be a lonely reader as well but i found the
english in the letter to be very similar to the english in all those scam e-mails
about some banks in africa holding a million dollars in myname ...
Sorry to disturb you with that,
thank you for all the good work,
Best regards,
David N

Hi David,
Send me the url that has your e-mail address and I'll remove it. I stopped posting e-mail addresses from friendly mail a few years ago. In some cases, some friendly mail wants me to post the e-mail address so people will contact them.
Spam is obvious to recognize. Who, in their right mind, is going to answer an inquiring e-mail form somebody you don't know and have never heard of because they claim that they saw your "profile" on Facebook or some other idiotic opener? Joining Facebook and putting up personal information about yourself is equally unwise in my opinion. Personal information is important and valuable to YOU. You should do everything within your power to protect it. Responding to the type of e-mail seen above is like writing "sucker looking to be fleeced" in the subject line.
I don't join any chatty forums, I don't post profiles about myself, I don't click e-mail Greeting cards which are sent to my e-mail address. I delete all e-mail that is impersonal and obviously intended to get me to respond to it in some manner.
