Keep up the good work, I hate to think how much email you must get, but if you get a chance, and want to learn more about nutrition, I recommend http://www.westonaprice.org/ - nothing like having your beliefs turned on their head!

Dear Ian Gregson,
I just read your article on the Educate-Yourself.org website about Weston
Price and his nutritional research.
It is mind boggling.
I am going to institute his findings into my diet, now!
Thank you for making this available, and to remind us where our true
nutrition comes from -- the natural world.
Sincerely,
George Carver

Hi Ken,
I wanted to alert you to the perhaps questionable nature of the information on the
Weston Price Foundation site. The article about B12, for example, indicates that a
1982 study showing that vegans and vegetarians had substandard B12 levels indicates
that you can't get enough B12 from spirulina and other non-animal foods. Most of the
sources in this article are from the 70s and 80s, and while I have great doubts
about science funded by big money, I'd consider the idea that big money funds modern
research on unprocessed foods and vegetarian diets with a fair amount of skepticism.
Seems a little fishy to me. Personally, most of the vegetarians and vegans I know
simply stop eating animal products but don't exactly eat a balanced diet or take the
time to learn about nutrition. Therefore, I'd question the validity of the sample
data there.
Furthermore, other misinformation on the site says things like "you shouldn't eat
whole grains" if they're not "properly prepared" without actually qualifying the
statement or explaining how to prepare them properly. I'm disinclined to accept such
an assertion; people have been eating whole grains for years, and I've read a pretty
significant amount of material that suggests it is the gluten that is less healthy
than the husk of the grain. The gluten, rather, is like the yolk of an egg, and
metabolizes more quickly than the protein-rich egg white, providing energy the body
that aids in the digestion of the white (which, in the case of grains, equates to
the husk).
If this seems off base, please do let me know - my intent is only to help you
maintain the integrity and quality of information on your site.
