It is possible, but unlikely at this time. I read of the blocking of the Gulf Stream by melt water from Greenland causing cooling of northern Europe. In 2002 I wrote something then on the Ocean Conveyor Belt current being unaffected by the melt water. Now this report has the melt water blocking the conveyor?

As the melting of the Arctic Sea Ice does not create much of a freshwater surge into the Atlantic and the coastal icebergs of Greenland and Baffin Island have not added much either, and most of the ice being at high altitudes, it is unlikely there will be a blockage of the Gulf Stream Current or the Conveyor Belt. The Conveyor pumps a hundred times more heat into the north Atlantic than the Gulf Stream and to block the Conveyor would take a change in the ocean floor. That would be more unlikely than the first theory.

As there has been a thaw in the Arctic Sea Ice and the thickness averages 4 feet instead of the usual 6 to 8 feet due to HAARP steering of warm Pacific air over Alaska into the Arctic since 1997 I do not feel HAARP will succeed in this doomsday scenario. The theorizers of the meltwater causing an Ice Age are most likely associated with HAARP.

A thousand years ago [1000AD] when the Vikings reported that Greenland was green the global temperatures were far higher than they are now and the warm era lasted nearly 400 years. The high altitude ice in Greenland did not melt. The Ocean Conveyer Belt was not blocked. The warmer centuries were caused by increased heat from the sun. In 1425, the sun cooled and remained cool until 1900. The coldest time was in the mid 1600s when no sunspots were seen for decades. The sun is coming into a warmer cycle and such a cycle bodes well for those in the north. A thousand years ago the Gobi Desert and Mongolia were wetter and the people and horses there multiplied. This led to the Mongols taking over most of Asia. When the cold era came the Mongols fled south into India. The cold centuries made European exploration of warmer lands necessary.

Another mini ice age happened around 510 AD when invasion after invasion of straving Visigoths, Huns etc. swept into the Roman Empire. The Angles and Saxons invaded Britain looking for food.

Where I live in British Columbia, the evidence of past ice ages is stamped into the landscape. The last ice age is still lingering in the Columbia Ice Fields and other  glaciers. There are U-shaped valleys and lateral and terminal moraines. There are hanging valleys where smaller glaciers merged with larger glaciers. There was ice in the Shuswap and Okanagan Valleys 8000 years ago. That sort of ice age is not likely over the next centuries as the Sylphs tell me.
